Back-to-School Intent Planning Feedback
Please answer the following questions for your students enrolled at South Whidbey School District. Please complete a new form for each student enrolled which may have a different plan.

As we continue to develop safe and responsible options for re-opening schools for the 2020-21 school year, we believe it is crucial to consider your feedback and needs as these plans are developed.

The questions below are not exhaustive of the barriers or solutions that are being considered and worked through, and not having a crystal ball, we know that our environment may change between now and September.

OUR HOPE IS TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS AVAILABLE IF SAFETY / CDC GUIDELINES ALLOW.

HYBRID OPTIONS:

Group A - Monday and Tuesday in person, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday distance / at home  learning.
Group B -  Thursday and Friday in person,  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday distance / at home learning.
Both options will provide best practices in safety for our staff and students.

Within the hybrid models - please designate your preference:

Outdoor / Nature Based:  A  program that is primarily nature based / outdoor learning. At least one teacher from each grade level will offer this hybrid model.

Traditional Classroom setting:  A program that is traditionally based.  At least one teacher from each grade level will offer this hybrid model.

Groups A & B will likely be divided alphabetically so that families may attend school on the same days.
If you have a preference on days we will consider it.

DISTANCE LEARNING OPTIONS:

100% distance learning from home - fully led and directed by SWSD district grade level certificated teachers. A combination of online and independent learning.

Grades K-4 only - South Whidbey and Parents' Partnership Program (SWAP) 100% learning from home,  with a focus on parent-led instruction and less emphasis through online learning.  This model will be based on strong collaboration between families and certificated mentor teachers, with parents being the primary provider of instruction.  Parents requesting this option will be contacted by the district to determine whether this option is an appropriate match for your child's learning.

Please note, that choices are NOT fully guaranteed.  SWSD back to school planning is based on CDC and WA Health Department Guidelines. We are still in the developmental stages. The recommendations and requirements may change at any time prior to the start of school and after school begins. SWSD will follow and adjust to meet the state and county requirements.
