Milwaukee's streets are public spaces that should be safe and welcoming to everyone, no matter where they live or how they travel. We know that this vision is not a reality, and in order to change it, the City of Milwaukee is developing a Complete Streets Handbook that will include guidelines and policies to make streets more safe, enjoyable, and equitable. We need your expertise to make sure the handbook reflects the entire City and that safety, racial justice, and social equity are at the forefront of the policies included in the handbook.
Please join us for the first (of up to four) community advisory group meetings on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. You can register for the meeting below.
We are also offering a limited number of stipends for organizations or individuals who would not be able to participate without financial support. Please let us know if you are interested in receiving a stipend on the form below. We will follow up with more information, including expectations and commitments for receiving the stipend.
You may be wondering, “What is a Complete Street?”. Complete Streets integrate people and place by making it safe, enjoyable, and convenient to walk, bike, take transit, drive, or simply experience – no matter one’s age or ability. Complete Streets include safety, transportation, environmental, social, and economic improvements.
We look forward to a safe and brave space for dialogue.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. If you are unable to join this meeting but would like your organization to participate, feel free to pass this invite along to another staff member.
Thank you!
