Operation TRAP (Trash reduction for Aquatic Preserves) - This project involves installation of interception technologies, data collection, and community engagement to encourage the reduction of single use items, while physically intercepting and preventing litter from entering Florida's Aquatic Preserves. Project sites are in Cedar Key and Pasco County. Volunteers would be trained in emptying, sorting, and logging all trash that is collected by interceptors.

COAST (COastal ASessment Team) - Project COAST is a long-term water quality monitoring project taking place in the Nature Coast Aquatic Preserve. The data collected for this project helps to inform management decisions made by the Department of Environmental Protection. Project COAST has nine systems (10 systems per site) that are monitored monthly, which equates to approximately 7 field days each month. Volunteers would be trained in how to collect water samples and would be able to meet the project leader on campus and ride to the field sites from there. To assist with this project, volunteers would need to be able to commit to a full day and be comfortable on a boat.

Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch - Volunteers with Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch survey beaches for nesting horseshoe crabs and tag a subset of them. Data are used by state and federal agencies in population studies. Surveys occur in the spring and fall each year (12 survey days in March/April and 12 survey days in Sept/Oct) and are matched to high tides around the new and full moon. Volunteers can do as many or as few surveys as they like per season but they must complete training before participating.
