TecMinho University. - Enterprise Association for Development (TM, PT) was founded in 1990
as an interface of the University of Minho aiming to promote the region’s development by stimulating
innovation and new technologies, by promoting the transfer of knowledge between the University,
the Enterprises and society and by stimulating technology-based entrepreneurship. TecMinho
Knowledge Transfer Office has managed the University of Minho spin-off programme for 14 years.
48 spin-offs are currently taking part in this programme that are provided various support services
such as coaching, mentoring and business planning. In the last 2 years 1800 entrepreneurs were
supported through TecMinho’s training and awareness raising activities, resulting in 15
entrepreneurial venture creations. Taking part of local, regional and national mentor networks
TecMinho has a great proximity with potential host entrepreneurs with proven record of new
entrepreneurs support. Moreover, TecMinho worked in the last 2 years with 120 companies in
Innovation Projects involving UMinho Researchers and knowledge. University-industry innovation
projects supported by TecMinho are developed in collaboration with SMEs and new ventures in all
fields, include renewable energies, environment, waste management, green building, energy
efficiency and green chemistry.
