This year's International ShakeOut Day is October 20, when millions of people worldwide will participate in earthquake drills at work, school, or home!

At 10:20 am (local time) on 10/20, you can join people across the world practicing earthquake safety. To register as a ShakeOut participant, visit https://www.shakeout.org/register/index.php?start=california

Locally, Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services is collaborating with numerous county, state, and federal agencies, along with some local community based organizations, to provide a training opportunity to practice real-life communication scenarios for a large earthquake event. Volunteers are needed for this local preparedness drill.

To participate, you have the option of reporting from the field or assisting at the OES Emergency Operations Center or Mobile Communications Trailer.

I will participate as a volunteer in the Humboldt County Great ShakeOut exercise by checking-in during the drill by the following method: *

Please check-in by choosing either texting (SMS) OR amateur radio, but NOT BOTH. During the exercise please do not duplicate your report by submitting a report other than the one you signed up for.

I will contact net control by Amateur RADIO either via one of the Far West Repeater Association's repeaters or by HF.

I will message my CERT Team Leader by TEXTING.
