OVERVIEW

The Victorian Volunteer of the Year Awards are designed to recognise contributions made to Victorian golf by hard working and dedicated individuals at club, district or state level. Awards will be presented to one Metropolitan and one Regional volunteer.

The majority of Victoria’s golf clubs, District Associations and Victorian Golf League (VGL) Clubs are significantly assisted by volunteers who contribute their time, knowledge, skills and enthusiasm in a variety of ways and many over long periods of time. These awards are an opportunity to provide recognition of those individuals to the broader golf community.

Clubs, District Associations and VGL are encouraged to submit nominations and also consider booking a table and attending the Awards Night which is an excellent celebration of Victorian golf.

CRITERIA

Awards are based on the significance of the contribution of the volunteer. Areas of contribution may include, but is not limited to:
 
 Junior golf development
 Adult participation
 Membership initiatives
 Marketing initiatives
 Administration/committee involvement
 Golf history & research
 Rules of Golf
 Course hating/handicapping
 Tournament administration
 General promotion of the game
 

Nominees must be a Victorian financial affiliated member.  Club, District, League and Golf Australia paid employees are ineligible to be nominated for an award.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Golf Australia will call for nominations from its members. The nominating party will be required to provide a summary of the individual’s achievements and years of service and it is requested a colour photo of the nominee be submitted.

Nominations close 14th June 2019.

SELECTION PROCESS

Each nomination will be reviewed by the Award Selection Panel who will determine four finalists and the winner in each category.

The Award Selection Panel will consist of representatives from various industry bodies.

AWARD PRESENTATION

The announcement of winners in each of the two Volunteer of the Year Award categories will be made at the 2019 Victorian Golf Industry Awards Dinner on Friday 9 August at the Arts Centre Melbourne.

Finalists in both categories, together with one guest of their choice, will be invited to the Victorian Golf Industry Awards Night as guests of Golf Australia.
