Autumn Writing Plans
Hi writers! Once again, I am in the process of figuring out the September-December WIUITG schedule. What I DO know: I will be offering all hybrid workshops and retreats at Little Blue Studio/Zoom. Meeting Owl continues to be a wonderful tool to connect those on Zoom with those in the room. The projected images from the screen to the wall of my studio make you Zoomers look like benevolent Big Brother/Sister/Person.

What I DON'T know: who is interested in which weekly workshops. It would help me greatly to know what your interests might be. Below are the groups I know I will be running:

Tuesdays 12:30-2:30
Wednesdays 12:30-2:30
Wednesday Songwriting 7-9pm
Thursdays 12:30-2:30 (focus on Fiction)
Thursdays 3:15-5:15 (Weeding & Pruning)
Thursday evening group 7-9pm

In addition, I want to add a group on Submitting and Publishing, probably on Mondays from 12:30-2:30. This group would be different from the others in that we'd spend the first 1/2 hour or so talking about a particular aspect around the work of getting our writing into the world. (Editing work into publishable form. Query letters, submission letters to literary journals and other publications, applying for grants, fellowships, residencies. Social media. Researching agents. Tracking submissions. Managing our limited resources to figure out which journals to support, where exactly to submit.) Each week, I'll discuss a different topic for about 20 minutes. We'd then spend an hour working quietly on these submissions. The last half hour would be spent checking in about what we did, how we are feeling. We all need support around this issue. We will remind each other how good our work is and how worthy an endeavor to continue to put it out in the face of (the inevitable) rejections. We'll remind each other it's a numbers game, not a meritocracy.

I'm also thinking about opening Little Blue and/or my Zoom for some hours a week for folks to use as a place to commit to their writing. There would be a very small charge for this. Again, this would be accountability.

Finally, I am hoping to do some kind of a manuscript group for Weeding & Pruning, but I'm still figuring out the days/times, as well as how to limit enrollment and how often folks would submit.

Your responses about which days and times you would be most likely to sign up for will help me in my planning. As soon as I get a sense of what you all want, I will open enrollment.

Thanks for attending to this! I am so grateful to have you all in my life.
Love, Nerissa
