Wicked Essential Youth Writing Workshop, Saturday, October 9th, 12:00pm-1:30pm
We look forward to writing and sharing with you in this free virtual session. Sign ups until 11:30am that Saturday, we'll send you an email and open the room up right before the session begins at 12pm.

Topic & Host: Former Mass LEAP Festival Champion and 3 time Brave New Voices Team Member, poet Tope Sholola will be leading a new youth writing session titled, "My Body is_____: exploring body perception and identity"

Description: Why is(or isn't) my body the safest place to be? Am I at ease in my flesh? Am I at home? In this workshop we will be interrogating the ways in which identity affects body perception. We will implore the importance of safety and comfort in our variously marginalized bodies while calling on the works of Warsan Shire, Rachel Eliza and Patricia Smith. These works will ground us while we discuss and write about the complex relationships we have with our bodies.

Thanks and hope to see you soon!
