Foreign National Participants - CEC Event Application/ Participants étrangers - Application aux événements CEC

The following individuals may be permitted to compete at CEC-Sanctioned events, with changes to the Event Competition Format: 
  • Temporary Resident: an individual residing temporarily in Canada and who does not have an active membership in another National Federation (NF). Examples include exchange student, temporary working visa holder. 
  • Affiliated Participant: an individual who is not a Canadian Citizen or Canadian Resident and is an active member of another National Federation (NF). 
Temporary Residents and Affiliated Participants are listed as Foreign National (FN) Participants when registering with CEC.  Temporary Residents and Affiliated Foreign National Participants must apply and be approved in order to participate in  

The decision to invite Foreign National Participants will be the responsibility of the CEC High Performance Committee (HPC). The following factors will be considered, in order of priority:
  • Event Capacity: is there capacity (both physical and time) for the candidate at the event?
  • Competitive benefit to the CEC event field: will the presence of the candidate in the field benefit Canadian athletes by making the event more competitive? Evidence: IFSC ranking, National ranking, Results from recent past. 
  • Contribution to CEC outside the event: is the candidate residing in Canada? Will they participate in more events? Do they contribute in some way outside of the competition to the Canadian competition climbing community? Evidence: living in Canada. Involved in organization in some capacity. On the local team. Length of time in Canada. 
  • Profile: does the candidate personal’s profile/reputation improve the exposure of the event? Evidence: Athlete familiarity in comp climbing scene. Media presence. 
  • Other Benefits: will the candidate’s participation in the event lead to some other tangible benefit to CEC and the comp climbing community? Evidence: case by case proposals or opportunities.
