INFORMATION:
This Scholarship, developed by leaders of Discount Dance and Ballet in the City, supports promising young dancers who demonstrate not only technical and artistic ability, but also outstanding personal character.
This application process for this Scholarship application remains open ONLY through SUNDAY, October 2, 2022 at 11:59pm EST. It is open to all dancers between the ages of 8-18. One (1) recipient will be selected and announced on Monday, October 10, 2022.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Applicants for the 2022 Discount Dance Scholarship presented by Ballet in the City must meet the following criteria and follow the following process to apply. ALL portions of the application process (essay, video, and donation) must be completed for application to be considered.
PLEASE CAREFULLY READ AND FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS:
-Must be a dancer between the ages of 8- 18 years of age.
-Area of focus of dance training must be classical ballet/ Balanchine/ neoclassical style (Balanchine/ neoclassical style not required, but training also does not have to be Russian/ Vaganova/ strictly 'classical', although solid ballet training/ ballet area of dance focus is required)
-Applicants must complete and submit this Google Form.
-Applicants must submit an essay (no more than 500 words) about what ballet means to them, and how they plan to pursue their ballet training.
-Applicants must submit a video link dancing a ballet variation. It is not necessary that this be a performance video or professionally filmed-- videos filmed in the studio are certainly permitted. Applicants are not assessed on the quality of the video, but the quality of the performance. Please use a personal YouTube account to Upload a video link.
-Applicants must submit a $15 donation to Ballet in the City via the link below. This donation supports ballet education and outreach in cities nationwide through Ballet in the City's nonprofit mission. *PayPal Giving Fund will email you a receipt for your donation. Please forward your receipt as part of the application process.

-ALL portions of the application (essay, video, and donation receipt) MUST be emailed/ forwarded to info@balletinthecity.org by the October 2, 2022 deadline. (Late submissions will not be considered.)
Scholarship Recipient will receive:
- A $350 check from Discount Dance to be used for ballet training
- Features on Discount Dance & Ballet in the City social media
- Special ballet education opportunities through Ballet in the City

Recipients to be Notified not later than October 10, 2022.
*Ballet in the City does not refund or transfer any Discount Dance Supply application donations for any reason.

Ballet in the City is a nonprofit organization founded in 2012. Since that time, it has engaged in presenting excellence through work with today's most exciting professional dancers around the country.
Ballet in the City has worked in partnership with Discount Dance to provide this Scholarship since 2016. By applying for this Scholarship, you are joining the ranks of many fine young dancers who proceeded to become professionals. In addition, you are supporting a nonprofit organization that gives back to the ballet community.
