The Covid-19 pandemic is exacerbating societal problems such as deep inequality and lack of investment in key infrastructure. Though some are claiming the temporary drop in emissions to be a good thing for the climate, millions of people are suffering the effects of this crisis. A socially-just recovery program must prioritise public health. This means investment in a healthy society that is able to promote the well-being of all as it commits to the rapid decarbonisation needed to end the climate crisis.
