iLizwe Lam is a Facebook Africa supported programme under the 'My Digital World' policy programmes, to address literacy needs in Sub-Saharan Africa. It seeks to inform high school learners, teachers, and parents about the great opportunities and dangers that the internet can pose for them online.
The objective is to train and raise awareness among young people, teachers, and parents about online safety, privacy, news and media literacy, and digital citizenship while providing tools for both parents and teachers to better support the learning in and outside of the classroom.
We offer training for the following audiences:
Learners
The core objective is to educate young people about their digital footprint and how to be a good citizen online while being equipped to spot fake news, implementing privacy autonomy and managing aspects such as cyber-bullying and social media fatigue.
Parents/Guardians
The core objective is to educate parents/guardians about online safety and privacy, media news literacy, and being good digital citizens online. We will also be sharing tools, tips, and resources to equip parents/guardians to support young people's online engagement.
Teachers
These sessions will focus on sharing resources, tools, and tips on how to navigate a digital classroom.
