Should Artificial Intelligence be used to make decisions in hospital?

Artificial intelligence (AI) uses highly trained computer programmes to learn from previous examples and help us solve problems. One way AI can help us in hospitals is by looking for bone problems, such as broken bones, on imaging scans (like X-rays).

This could speed up the time for patients to get their results, and in some cases, could be more accurate than a human doctor. On the downside, it can be expensive to use this technology, and the AI may be wrong or we become overly reliant on it.

We don’t know how parents, guardians and children feel about using AI for looking at bone problems on scans, so we want to know what you think.

If you are an adult and have caring responsibilities for a child/children please help us by filling out this survey.
It takes only 10 minutes to complete.

If you have a child or know of any young persons who would like to take part, please share with them our survey for children and young persons available here: https://forms.gle/fbePsknfsoQSwReN8

Many thanks for your help and participation!

This short animation explains what we would like you to think about in this survey
In this image an X-ray of an arm has been taken. It is being processed by a computer, and using artificial intelligence (AI), it is able to find a broken bone (also called a fracture) and highlight this on the X-ray for the doctors and nurses to see more easily and quickly.
