Dear friends and colleagues,

With the heaviest of heart, I write to inform you of the passing of Professor Lam Wah Kit on 24th January 2022 after suffering a long illness. He was surrounded by his family, mentees and colleagues.

Wah Kit was exceptional in so many ways, not just for his vision, achievements and legacy in Medicine but also for being that person one feels inspired to meet in one’s lifetime, a true gentleman. He was a selfless clinician, teacher and researcher, and had contributed significantly to the development of general and respiratory medicine in the Department, Hong Kong and beyond. Wah Kit was Head of the Department from 2001 to 2004, and Chairman of the Board of the Department until 2020 when he fell ill. He was conferred Emeritus Professor and Honorary Clinical Professor of the University of Hong Kong following his retirement in 2008.

Wah Kit is lovingly remembered by his family, friends, colleagues and students.
