Have you ever heard of the Blue Mosque? Join us on our next tour to explore a significant part of the heritage of Bab al-Wazir neighbourhood, an aristocratic district in the Mamluk era.
We will stroll together until we reach the Blue Mosque to see a magnificent display of ceramic tiles that will inspire us in creating decorative elements and unique ceramic pieces.
The tour concludes with a pottery painting workshop. Pottery-making is one of the most important traditional crafts associated with historic Cairo. During the workshop, we will learn about the pottery-making process and have hands-on experience in painting on a ceramic piece.
The tour begins at al-Qalaa Square (in front of al-Sultan Hassan Mosque), passing by Ayyubid Citadel and Bab Al-Azab, Bab al-Wazir cemetery, Dome and Sabil of Tarabay al-Sharify, and ends at the Khayr Bek complex, the Blue Mosque, and al-Khalifa Workshop. In the workshop, participants will learn the basics of ceramic painting, how to prepare the colours, and each participant will paint their own special plate.
