ThrivAlaska School Age Care - Parent Interest Survey
Thrivalaska is a community-based non-profit committed to the delivery of high-quality early childhood care and learning services.  Thrivalaska currently operates a licensed school-age before and after school program at Pearl Creek Elementary School.  This program is open beginning at 7 am until school begins and after school until 6 pm.  In addition to providing supervised care in a safe environment, the dedicated program staff lead the children in organized activities both indoors and outdoors, as well as provide resources for imaginative play and creative outlets.

Thrivalaska is exploring the possibility of expanding our school-age program into other elementary schools within the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District.  After meeting with the principal at Woodriver, we are now reaching out to parents to determine the level of interest in a before and after school care program at Woodriver Elementary.

We understand the cost of this program will impact your responses.  Program rates are set based on many factors such as operating rates and enrollment.  Monthly rates can vary.  However, as a point of comparison, the current rate at Pearl Creek is $325/month for only before or only after school care, or $550/month for both before and school care.  We would expect the rate at your school to be comparable.  Please also be aware that our community does have a Child Care Assistance program to provide financial assistance with child care expenses for eligible families who are working or participating in an education or training program.  Thrivalaska does accept several forms of subsidy, such as CCA as well as TCC and OCS.  More information can be found at https://dhss.alaska.gov/dpa/Pages/ccare/families.aspx.
