eg.  My daughter was diagnosed in grade one with dyslexia.  We had her diagnosed privately because the school said there were other children that needed more help than her, even though I mentioned she cries daily about not being able to keep up at school and being different.  My daughter is now in middle school and we don't really have an IEP.  The school says there are other students that need more support than my daughter.  We pay privately for tutoring 4 times a week and it is $90 an hour for her to keep up with school.  We understand that she needs another psych ed before high school, but my husband just lost his job and we don't have medical coverage.   It costs $3000 for another psych ed.  My daughter is tired of missing play dates to go to the tutor.  My son is tired of never having his mom to help him with his homework or drive him anywhere.  Having no support of funding to help with all of the support  we give our daughter has been very draining on everyone in the family.  My daughter suffers from anxiety and I have been diagnosed with depression.  Not sure how much longer we will be able to do the tutoring.....since my husband just lost his job.

eg. I am 50 years old and diagnosed in grade 2 as having a severe learning disability.  We moved from Prince George to Vancouver so that I could go to public school for grade 3 but the school was not able to support me.  I went to Fraser Academy at a huge expense and sacrifice to my family for high school.  They did not really support me either.  I dropped out of school at 15.  Despite having a high IQ I have not been able to hold down a job, mostly because of my reading.  I have jobs in Mining camps, but when it comes time to write my exams for first aid, TDG or special licences, I don't get accommodated for my reading and I usually fail or my anxiety gets so high that I quit.  I suffer from anxiety and depression.  Recently someone told me I was able to apply for the disability tax credit. But I don't even know where to begin with getting a diagnosis again.
If you could change one thing in the BC Education system for students or people with dyslexia and other learning disabilities what would it be?  Please be concise.
If you could change one thing for adults with dyslexia in the province of BC what would it be? (can include changes in access at post secondary) Please be concise.
