This two-week program is open to high school students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year with emphasis and priority given to rising seniors. It is designed to prepare participants for the prescreen and audition criteria required for admittance into university musical theatre programs nationally. Campers will follow a rigorous course schedule of song and monologue coaching, daily private voice lessons, dance, acting and improvisation. Additionally, students entering their senior year will have the option to film their required audition media on site, meeting all requirements of the Musical Theater Common Prescreen (MTCP). The program will culminate in a showcase of work for parents and friends. The MT College Prep Intensive is led by Stephen Agosto, Senior Manager of Artistic Engagement at the Tony-Award winning Paper Mill Playhouse, who drafted the nationally recognized MTCP criteria in 2018.
Audition requirements: one vocal selection (60-90 seconds) that shows off range and ability to tell a story, a one-minute monologue, headshot, and resume. Videos should be uploaded as unlisted files to YouTube. Acceptance to NEMC's MT College Prep will be based on audition, teacher recommendation and experience.
Audition, Application, and Questionnaire are reviewed on a rolling basis. We encourage all submission to be in by June 1, 2021.
