The 3rd and final session of Dance Club for 2019 will be starting after Spring Break.

Preschool and Kindergarten will rehearse on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:00pm.
1st graders will rehearse on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:00pm
2nd-3rd graders will rehearse on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00pm.
4th-6th graders will rehearse on Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00pm.

Session 3 is from April 9th-May 8th and the cost is $50. This is a reduced rate due to the snow days in Session 2.

If your student needs to try on dance shoes, I will be available Monday, April 8th after school until 4:00pm to assist them in finding a pair that fits.  Please let me know if you have any questions. I am looking forward to another wonderful session of dance with your students!

MCC Dance Club
MCC Dance Club communication and organization is conducted by Jacqui Robinson with assistance from the elementary office and parent volunteers. If you would like to assist in fundraising, costumes, or in any other way behind the scenes, please contact Jacqui Robinson.

MCC Dance Club instruction is a paid position to a professional dance instructor. Please respect their expertise and professionalism. If you have concerns, please contact them to set up a time to meet. Right before or after your child’s class is not the ideal time to meet with the instructor.

Class Schedule and Attendance
Classes will meet regularly on the dates and times specified by the instructor. Students should arrive for class no later than 5-10 minutes prior to the scheduled lesson. Students should wait for class to begin directly outside the auditorium in the preschool lobby area. Wandering of the school and stage facility is NOT permitted.

All classes are closed sessions. Parents, siblings, or other guardians who are picking up or dropping off students to class should wait in the preschool lobby during class time.

Classes may be cancelled due to severe weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Classes will be cancelled if Muskegon Catholic Schools are cancelled. If school is not in session there will not be dance class.

It is the responsibility of the student to make up classes missed due to illness or vacations. Check with the instructor for dates and times available to make up dance lessons. No exceptions or refunds will be given for missed classes.

Required Attire
Class - Students should wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. Baggy clothing makes it difficult to see if a student is using proper technique and is therefore prohibited. For female students; tights, leotards or leggings are acceptable. For male students, comfortable clothing would be appropriate. Please see the instructor with questions.

School Events - The MCCE Dance Club will pay for t-shirts for the girls to wear when they perform at school events. Unless otherwise stated, students will wear their MCCE Dance Club shirt for events such as these along with long, black bottoms (leggings, yoga pants, etc.) and tennis shoes. Hair should be pulled up and out of the way. Additional green and gold hair accessories, glitter, stickers, etc. are permitted as long as they are not a distraction or restrictive to the dancer.

Payment
The charge for participation differs each session based on the number of weeks and events the students will be performing in. It also covers the cost of new costumes and t-shirts. Payment for each session is due at the first class.

Checks should be made out to MCC and payment should be turned in at the elementary office. If a student is withdrawn from class during a session, refunds will only be given if a valid written doctor’s release is presented to the instructor.

Student Assessment
Because dance is a precise art, it may be necessary for the instructor to physically correct or adjust the student by putting their hands on their bellies, buttocks, legs, arms, etc. This is done so that the student becomes aware of the correct alignment that is required in proper dance technique.

We will continually evaluate each student’s abilities. All children progress at different rates, therefore evaluations and recommendations made by the instructor should not be seen in a negative light, but rather intended solely to help each student to reach their potential at their own pace.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns please reach out to Mrs. Robinson via email at theatre@muskegoncatholic.org.
