To increase financially accessibility of our retreats, we're re-opening applications for support in the form of partial scholarships, which will henceforth be referred to as "scholarship".

*For North Carolina (June 5-10, 2024) - Apply by April 10, 2024
*For Guatemala (February 1-8, 2025) - Apply by September 30, 2024
HOW MANY SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED FOR EACH RETREAT?At this time, one (1) scholarship will be offered for each of the retreats listed above.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A SCHOLARSHIP?
Scholarships can cover a significant portion of your retreat package, reducing your total trip cost. The exact amount of the scholarship will vary by retreat, as well as the recipient's means to contribute. You will be responsible for paying an agreed upon non-refundable deposit ($300-$500) to confirm your commitment to the retreat and ability to pay other costs that are not covered.
***Airfare, travel insurance, and any and all other expenses not included in retreat packages are NOT covered by the scholarship and will be your responsibility. ***
HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M ELIGIBLE?
Many variables influence a person's ability to pay, so there is no specific eligibility formula. Please consider your means, privilege, and spending habits, taking into account that the financial support is for those who may not otherwise have such an opportunity. Though not absolute, a few consideration for not joining the application pool would be if you:
- Have done a good amount of recreational travel
- Own the home in which you reside
- Hold savings, retirement accounts, other investments
- Have inherited wealth
- Work part-time by choice
- Work for lower income than your earnings potential by choice
HOW WILL RECIPIENTS BE SELECTED?Selection criteria will take into account applicants' financial circumstances, application responses, and in line with our commitment to equity, consideration will be given to people from historically marginalized communities.
CAN I APPLY IF I HAVE ATTENDED A RETREAT?
Knowing that the financial circumstances of previous participants may change over time, past participants may apply. However, opportunities will be prioritized for new travelers.
WHEN WILL YOU ANNOUNCE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS?
Scholarships will only be awarded once the minimum number of participants required to conduct the retreat has been reached. However, you will be notified via email within thirty (30) days of the application deadline as to whether you have been selected for a scholarship, provided that the retreat runs.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M SELECTED FOR A SCHOLARSHIP?
If you have received a scholarship offer and the retreat is confirmed, you will need to register for the retreat and make an agreed upon non-refundable deposit within seven (7) days of receiving notification.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT RECEIVE A SCHOLARSHIP?
If you do not receive a scholarship, you will be put on a waiting list. If someone receiving a scholarship cancels their spot, we will reconsider those on the waiting list.
WILL OTHERS KNOW THAT I RECEIVED A SCHOLARSHIP?
No! Applications and recipients of scholarships will be kept confidential. If you attend a retreat with a scholarship, it is entirely up to you whether you choose to share this information with others.
