GAAE 2024 Conference CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Georgia Association for Alternative Education (GAAE) is excited to host its Annual Georgia Alternative/Non-Traditional Education Conference September 25-27, 2024, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Savannah Historic District. This conference is an annual event that brings together administrators, teachers, counselors, professional development coordinators, and supportive staff who work within Alternative/Non-traditional Education schools and programs.  

Conference Theme: "Innovate, Elevate, Educate: Alternative Education in Georgia"
 
This form is used to submit a proposal to present at the 2024 GAAE Annual Conference.
ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE ONLINE FORM.

All presentations should fit in at least one of the nine conference standards. The length of all breakout sessions will be one (1) hour.  The DEADLINE for proposal submission is June 28th, 2024.

Presenters will be notified of the acceptance of their proposals by July 12th, 2024. Presenters must register by July 31st, 2024, to ensure a presentation slot. Presentations are scheduled upon registration for the conference.

GAAE invites effective and engaging speakers to submit proposals for one-hour sessions aligned to at least one of Georgia’s Alternative Education Program standards.  Presentations should include the following themes (Social and Emotional Wellness/Trauma, Effective Leadership in Non-traditional Settings, Instructional Practices, Effective Partnerships, College and Career Readiness)   

Standard 1: Conducts routine and systematic program evaluations to improve educational programs and services
 
Standard 2: Implements a transition process to support a seamless entry to the GAEP and a seamless return to the traditional ​​​​​home school or external agency which includes a plan for transition success
 
Standard 3: Provides students with opportunities to maintain or accelerate their current progress toward graduation  
 
Standard 4: Develops and implements a graduation plan for each student
 
Standard 5: Communicates effectively and efficiently
 
Standard 6: Supports the success of students with a counseling program that is grounded in evidence-based practices to address the academic, social and emotional success of students
 
Standard 7: Facilitates the success of students with a social work program that is responsive, rigorous, and emphasizes intervention and prevention services
 
Standard 8: Supports the academic success of students with the effective implementation of a rigorous instructional framework aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE)
 
Standard 9: Supports the academic success of students with the effective implementation of a rigorous, data-driven digital and virtual learning program aligned to state content standards

Presenter Responsibilities
PROPOSAL SUBMITTAL:  All proposals must be submitted by June 28, 2024. 

REGISTRATION: Upon selection of your proposal all presenters are required to register for the 2024 GAAE Conference.

COMMUNICATION: The primary presenter will receive correspondence related to the Conference. It is the primary presenter’s responsibility to relay appropriate information to all co-presenters.

EXPENSE: All presenters are responsible for expenses related to the Conference, including registration and hotel accommodations.

HANDOUTS: If handouts are being provided, all documents will need to be submitted on SCHED by September 13, 2024. Submitted documents can be uploaded to the conference SCHED website and shared with registered participants. 

EQUIPMENT: Presenters are responsible for providing their own technology devices. This includes extension cords, speakers, etc. Please note: A cost will be incurred for any additional AV devices.
