2023 Jerry Zwart Sportsmanship Award
In November of 2001, the horse community lost a dear friend and a wonderful person. Jerry Zwart was a member of the Blue Ridge Horse Force, a board member for the Roanoke Valley Horseman’s Association, 4-H Volunteer Leader, father of Cassandra and Zachary Zwart and husband of Sherry Zwart.
Those of us who were lucky enough to know Jerry, know what a very special person he was. Jerry and his Bukrage won the year end award in Driving every year he competed. They also showed in Pleasure and Trail Classes. Jerry was always the one with a smile and kind word for everyone.
While we have lost Jerry, we want to keep his memory and legacy alive. We, therefore, are offering this award to encourage others to strive to emulate Jerry and all that he stood for.
