The Gleaning Abundance Program is a non-profit initiative that aims to improve community safety and local food security by coordinating volunteers to harvest unwanted or excessive fruit on private property. We offer the opportunity for people to volunteer to pick fruit, transport fruit and volunteers, or have their fruit tree be gleaned.
Here is how it works:
After the fruit is harvested, it is weighted and shared in the following way:
Up to ⅓ to the tree owner.
Up to ⅓ to the volunteer gleaners.
Up to ⅓ is canned and will be donated to food insecure people.
And spoiled fruit will be donated to farmers for animal food. No waste!
We would be delighted to have you join the fun and the abundance of love we have for food!
