Comanche Street: Carancahua to Alameda Public Comment Form

The Project includes the full-depth rehabilitation of Comanche Street – Carancahua Street to Alameda Street, which includes various street and utility improvements. As part of The Project, all existing pavement and underground infrastructure will be demolished and replaced from the western limits of the curb return at the Carancahua Street intersection to 40 feet west of the Alameda Street intersection (approx. 2,600 LF). Sidewalks, curb ramps, concrete driveways, concrete curb and gutter, and the on-street parking on Comanche Street will also be upgraded for this project area.

Comanche Street is designated in the Corpus Christi Urban Transportation Plan to remain a two-lane C-1 Minor Residential Collector (1 through lane in each direction). The existing roadway is asphalt that has a width of approximately 40’-0” (B-B). The proposed roadway will have a width of 40’-0” (B-B) with 18’-0” through lanes in each direction. The speed limit is currently posted as 30 mph and will remain 30 mph. The roadway will be striped as a C-1 Secondary Collector which provides one lane of travel-way with on-street parking (from Tancahua Street to Carancahua Street). ADA improvements shall consist of five (5) foot wide sidewalks, curb ramps, and crosswalk striping. Traffic and other regulatory signage shall be provided throughout the project limits. In addition, the 4 existing residential driveways and 20 commercial driveways will be based on the General Development Standards found in the City of Corpus Christi Unified Development Code. Hanson and the City’s Development Services/Engineering Services department will discuss non-compliant driveways along the project prior to submitting final plans.

The existing Right of Way (R.O.W.) along Comanche Street – Carancahua Street to Alameda Street, is approximately 60 feet. All proposed improvements will be completed within the existing R.O.W. width except for tie-in connections that may need to be completed in the adjacent alleys\utility easements.
