Registration in the DCHS Driver Education Class is limited with priority given to older students from the DCHS district boundaries. To be eligible for this class a student must reach his/her 15th birthday on or before November 30th, 2020. To register for this class, parents/guardians must return the completed registration form along with a check or money order payable to DCHS for $265.00. Registration closes at noon on Tuesday, June 16th. No refunds after completion of the first week of class.

The State of Montana requires each student to attend 60 hours of instruction, a minimum of 12 hours in-car instruction, which includes 6 hours of “behind-the-wheel” instruction and 48 hours of classroom instruction. These requirements must be met in order to pass the Driver Education Class. If additional classes are necessary, due to student absences, they will require an additional $40 per class per student.

The classroom schedule is included with this form. The DE Class will meet in the DCHS cafeteria from 10:00 am to noon. Be on time! Three tardies equal an absence.

Students will be assigned a driving time. Students will drive with a partner each week. Every student will have one drive assigned on a Friday. In five weeks each student will complete six drives. Any student who fails to show up for their assigned drive, without providing the teacher proper notice, will be required to pay an additional $50 to schedule an additional drive.

Students must attain at least a 70% average on the written materials and achieve a passing score on the Final Test to pass the classroom portion of the course.

During the class, students will have the opportunity to obtain their Learner License by passing the MVD written test. Additionally, by passing their in-class driving test the MVD drive test can be waived.

Students, at least 15 years of age, who successfully complete a Driver Education Course and complete their 50 hours of driving, after 6 months, can obtain their driving license.

June 16th noon: registration closes at DCHS office. Late registration will be placed in the order in which it was received. If the class is full then the student will need to wait for the next class.
June 17th 5:00 pm: Mandatory meeting (90 minutes) for students & parents DCHS library.
June 18th 10:00 am: Students meet for class in the DCHS cafeteria.
July 24th  8:00 am: Last day for class



DRIVER EDUCATION SCHEDULE

June 16th: Registration form along with payment due in the high school office. Late registration will be given a low priority for enrollment.

June 17th: Mandatory meeting for parents and students. The meeting covers class policies and beginning the student driver application process. The meeting will begin at 5:00 pm in the DCHS cafeteria and last approximately 90 minutes. Please bring your child’s certified birth certificate and social security card plus your driver’s license.
