LIFT Summer Programs 2023 - Permission Form
We have a full and exciting summer planned here at LIFT,  and we can't wait for your students to join us. Programming is open to any incoming 6th - 12th grade student in Leelanau County, and transportation is offered to students residing in the Suttons Bay, Northport and Leland communities.

Throughout the summer, we'll share in everything from coffee chats and service opportunities to sailing, camping, crafting and just about everything in between.

As summer programming looks different than programming during the school year, we ask that you still complete this form for each one of your students you'd like to enroll, even if they have joined us for programming in the past.

Rules and Guidelines for Summer Programs
Participants of LIFT Summer Programs hereby agree to abide by all of the rules and policies developed by the staff, members, and volunteers of LIFT, as stated below:

1. Participants are expected at ALL times to treat staff, volunteers and peers with respect and consideration. TEASING, BULLYING or CONFRONTATION are strictly PROHIBITED.
2. We expect that all equipment and property of LIFT be treated with respect and care.
3. Members will be responsible for any damage they cause at LIFT or during any activities organized by LIFT. Participants are responsible for returning any equipment in the same condition at the end of the activity prior to leaving.
4. No weapons or fighting.
5. No smoking, drugs, alcohol or gambling.
6. Use appropriate language.
7. Clean up after yourself. Throw away trash. Cans and recycling are to go in properly designated receptacles. Excessive trash from snacks may result in limited snacks.
8. Participants are responsible for informing LIFT staff and volunteers if they require transportation. They are also responsible for being on time for pickup.
9. Violation of these rules at LIFT programming will jeopardize your privileges in these programs.

Being involved in LIFT programs is a privilege. Members are expected to exhibit good behavior and follow all rules made by staff and volunteers.

LIFT enforces a three-strike policy to provide youth with ample opportunity to correct any discouraged or disruptive behavior:
  • FIRST OFFENSE: Failure to exhibit good behavior will result in a verbal warning.
  • SECOND OFFENSE: Parent/Guardian will be notified by letter that any additional offenses will result in loss of Summer Programs privileges.
  • THIRD OFFENSE: Loss of LIFT programs and privileges.
LIFT operates a tiered system on third strikes based on the severity of the student's actions. Below, find the tiers and note the consequences for each. In addition to these consequences, rejoining LIFT programming will be contingent upon a meeting with the student, their parent / guardian, LIFT's Program Development Director, Miss Corrie & Miss Alana.

  • TIER 1 (2-week ban): Swearing, name calling, disrespectful comments, unkind language, intentionally disrupting programming, gossip of any kind, inappropriate/explicit/violent content on phones, recording during LIFT without express permission, lying to staff or volunteers in order to manipulate or gain access to something.
  • TIER 2 (Month-long ban): Stealing from staff, volunteers or peers, continued disrespect after verbal warnings, repeated offenses, bullying and intimidation toward students and/or staff.
  • TIER 3 (Summer-long ban): Physical altercations or conflict, vaping, smoking or drinking (any other substance use), possession or razors or other weapons, gambling, intentional destruction of property, any of our zero-tolerance policies or anything that would result in expulsion or suspension from school.
