Dear Community Ally,

We are writing to request your endorsement for the Caravan for the Children/Caravana por los Niños Campaign.

When we learned that federal officials were separating immigrant families and detaining children in cages, you probably felt as horrified as we did. For the past four years, our calls for justice, basic human rights, and fairness for immigrant families fell on deaf ears. The Biden/Harris administration has promised to institute very different immigration policies, and we must hold them and the legislature accountable. We ask that they Uncage, Reunify, and Heal the migrant children and their families.

Immigrant children continue to be detained by ICE in “tent camps” where they receive insufficient nutrition, no hot meals, no medical care, and lack opportunities to bathe, learn, and play. At least six children that we know of have died while living in these conditions. Many clinicians agree that the effects of parental separation and subsequent living conditions have resulted in significant trauma that may last their entire lifetimes.

The Caravan for the Children is a 100-day campaign that intends to put pressure on the Biden/Harris Administration in order for them to Uncage, Reunify and Heal the children with their parents. Already, we held a Caravan visibility event in San Francisco, and have more activities in the planning stages. We will culminate the first 100 days by driving to the San Diego border to take part in actions being planned there to bring attention to this matter. We will also be flying to Washington, DC, where we will take part in the 100-day protests being planned as well as schedule meetings with legislators.

However, we need to show that our support extends within and beyond our own community. That’s where you come in. We hope you and your organization are among those that find the idea of caged children separated from their families as reprehensible as we do. If you do, we have one simple request: endorse our campaign.  

An endorsement for the Caravan for the Children campaign means your organization's name will appear on our our web page as a supporter. Beyond that, we welcome your participation in other Caravan for the Children campaign activities and calls to action, including adding your support for the campaign on your website and/or social media sites; email your supporters and constituents to increase their awareness of the Caravan for the Children campaign; encourage other organizations to endorse our campaign; and participate in our weekly calls to action.
