In partnership with the Washington State Department of Commerce, BDS Planning is currently accepting applications for new members to serve on the
Washington State Permanent Supportive Housing Advisory Committee. Established in
SHB 1724 in 2022, this committee is tasked with providing advice, recommendations, and resource coordination to the Department of Commerce in order to bring high quality Permanent Supportive Housing
* to scale in Washington State as efficiently as possible.
The PSH Advisory Committee meets four times per year, with meetings typically lasting three hours and occurring during regular business hours. Members can choose to serve for a term length of either 2 or 3 years. Meetings are hosted virtually using Zoom and are open to the public. Committee members who are either of low-income status OR who have lived experience with permanent supportive housing may be eligible for financial compensation (see section below titled "Financial Compensation" for more details).
By serving on this committee, members have a real impact on statewide policy and program decisions that affect resources, support, funding, and availability of housing for Washington's most vulnerable citizens. Advisory Committee members provide advice directly to the Department of Commerce on how our current supportive housing systems can be improved to better serve PSH residents and our communities as a whole. Candidates for this committee should be passionate about housing, committed to public service, have deep knowledge or experience around PSH in Washington state, and approach meetings with a mindset focused on equity, compassion, and effective solutions.
Please direct any questions or accommodation requests to natalia@uncommonbridges.com.
* Permanent supportive housing (PSH) is subsidized, leased housing with no limit on length of stay that prioritizes people who need comprehensive support services to retain tenancy and utilizes admissions practices designed to use lower barriers to entry than would be typical for other subsidized or unsubsidized rental housing, especially related to rental history, criminal history, and personal behaviors.
This application is a state record. All state records are subject to disclosure if requested by any member of the public. Please see the Public Records Act, 42.56 RCW for more information.
