ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
• Current/former CYC youth participant
• Minimum GPA: 2.0 or GED
• Financial need
• Residency: San Francisco
SELECTION CRITERIA:
• Demonstrates understanding or desire to understand or have an experience in one of the following categories:
Culture–historical practices/traditions
History–significant past events such as those affecting a nation(s), institutions, or groups of people and their effects on society; immigrant experience(s)
Identity – the discovery of oneself; their unique personality, character, and values
• Personal strengths including maturity, motivation and potential to succeed
• Demonstrates strong desire to share their scholarship experience with other youth through social media or video
DEADLINE:
• Applications must be received by Friday, April 30, 2021
APPLICATION CHECKLIST: Applicants are responsible for submitting all materials to CYC by the deadline Friday, April 30, 2021. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. This application becomes complete and valid only when CYC has received all of the following materials:
Completed student application form & essay answers
Most recent transcript(s) of grades (including grade scale); unofficial transcripts are acceptable
Resume (include work experience, school activities, community service, honors and awards)
Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from a CYC staff. Letters should be on official school or organization letterhead.
Note: Three to five finalists will be chosen. Finalists must be available for a 30-minute interview in May at CYC (dates to be determined). If chosen for interview, finalists must submit official transcript(s) of grades, SAT/ACT score reports and FAFSA student and report. Applicants will be notified by Monday, May 17, 2021 whether or not they have been selected as scholarship recipients. Scholarships will be awarded at a virtual event on Friday, June 4.
