Interested Player Information Form
Thank you for your interest in the Southampton Community Band! 

The purpose of this form is to create a database of interested players.  Since the COVID pandemic began, several musicians have expressed an interest in joining the group.  After a lengthy shutdown, the band rehearsed and performed on a limited basis with its usual roster of players in the spring and summer.  Now, we are ready to approach the 2022-2023 concert season with a little more normalcy, which includes the admission of new players!  

Please complete this form as thoroughly as possible. Many answers are marked as "required."  

After submission of the form, you should expect a response in 5-10 days.  Expanding and adjusting our active roster of players takes time.  Your responses to the form in conjunction with the current needs of the ensemble will determine if/when a seat may be available for you.

Self-assessment of skills.
Our band frequently plays music that expects a certain level of competency of its players.  Take a few minutes to think about your current level of musicianship and answer these questions accordingly.
Woodwind, Brass, and Mallet Players: Can you play all 12 major scales? By memory? Can you play a two-octave chromatic scale?

Battery Percussionists: How many rudiments do you know?  Which auxiliary percussion instruments do you prefer to play?

Drum Set Players:  Which basic beats do you know, and can you play them by memory and also read them as printed on a part?

It is important for all players to have good control of the volume of their instrument.  How well do you think you play your instrument across the dynamic range?   Are you comfortable at playing forte?  piano?  mezzo piano? fortissimo?  
Woodwind and Brass Players:  How would you describe your sound?

Availability 
Below are a few questions regarding your rehearsal availability as well as the band and host facilities' health/safely needs. 
The band rehearses in Southampton, PA from 7:00pm to 9:15pm on THURSDAY nights.  Does this work for your schedule? *
We usually perform on Saturday nights to an audience of ticketholders.  We typically hold three or four concerts a year. *
Our rehearsal and concert venues are retirement homes, assisted living facilities, township buildings and schools.  These facilities usually have clearly-outlined COVID protocols for guests, including vaccination expectations.  Please share your COVID-19 vaccination status. *
