Fiat House Application

MISSION

The Fiat House is responsible for investing in and creating a community of women with a particular focus on those outside or on the fringes of St. Lawrence.  The Fiat Community aims to create a culture of encounter with Jesus Christ and His Church through intentional relationships with female students at the University of Kansas. This position takes personal responsibility to ensure the Fiat House operates in line with our core values:

Daring to Stand Out

Forming Fullness in Each Person

Living the Art of Relationship

Building a Culture of Home Guiding Great Stories

QUALIFICATIONS

A practicing Catholic female with a strong desire to grow in community with other women and to evangelize on a secular university campus. She must have the ability to relate to different types of people and be able to work well within a household environment. She is a strong witness of the Catholic faith and committed to discipleship in her own life. She must be a KU student.

Must be a model of an intentional, healthy, and sustainable way of life, including the virtues of cleanliness and simplicity while striving for personal excellence and growth in holiness.

Due to the high commitment level of the communal life and mission of the Fiat House, women living in the house may not be in stipended leadership positions at St. Lawrence.  Non-stipend leadership positions (i.e. sacristan, choir, GoodCo., FOCUS, etc.) will need to be discussed with the Director of Missionary Discipleship to ensure that they will not impede on the duties of house life.  Students in the house are welcome to hold jobs as long as they ensure their working hours do not interfere with their communal life, mission, and associated responsibilities.
