A Day of Differences in Differences

The Computational and Spatial Analysis (CSA) Core of the Population Research Institute (PRI) and Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) at The Pennsylvania State University is pleased to announce our third Innovative Methodology workshop. Join us, on February 27th 2024,  for a day of causal inference with author of “Causal Inference: The Mixtape” Scott Cunningham, Ben H. Williams Professor of Economics at Baylor University. Prof. Cunningham is an expert in translating the most modern methods of determining cause and effect in social sciences, and his work has appeared in several top-tier social-sciences journals such as the Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Human Resources, and Journal of Public Economics. We are thrilled to host Prof. Cunningham for a lecture on frontier problems and modern solutions for implementing Differences-in-Differences designs, perhaps the most ubiquitous models in the causal inference toolkit. The lecture will be followed by a hands-on, data-centric workshop led by Prof. Cunningham to apply the Differences-in-Differences methods to a real-world research example.

The lecture will be hosted in 110 Henderson (and via zoom) at 9:00 - 11:30 AM on 2/27/2024. A zoom link will be provided via email closer to the date. The lab is offered in-person only and will be in 110 Henderson from 1:30 - 3:00 PM. Both the lecture and workshop are free to attend. Participants will be expected to bring their own laptop to the workshop and have access to STATA.

This event is sponsored in part by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (Award # P2C HD041025).
