Thank you for your interest in being a part of the 2023 Short+Sweet Illawarra Cabaret Showcase.

Merging theatre and music cabaret creates an atmosphere of exploration, energy, politics, stories, characters, sex, songs, and silliness. Short+Sweet Cabaret is a forum where new ideas are tested, risks are taken, where the performers and audience share an intimate experience of something new, and never seen before.

The only thing to expect is that each piece is ten-minutes or less.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME. Dancers, writers, actors, directors, singers, magicians, circus artists, comedians and drag performers!

Whether it’s burlesque or vaudeville, hilariously comic or thrillingly creepy, New York-style or cabaret noir, we welcome submissions in any cabaret form.

Participation is on a voluntary basis. Participants in the Festival will not be entitled to any payments for fees, salaries, travel, per diems or accommodation. The best acts as voted by judges and audience will advance to our Short+Sweet Illawarra Gala Final Showcase - the best of our acts from our Theatre, Dance, Cabaret and Voices festival.

The showcase is tentatively schedule to perform 25th August 2023, but this date will be confirmed at the end of June - it may be moved to another date within a week or two depending on the requirements of our related festivals (Theatre & Dance mostly).
