GOHS Solo and Ensemble Form: Due December 17th
All students in the choir program will learn a classical solo starting in January. Students will have a choice of taking that solo to contest and singing for a judge or presenting that solo for the directors. Either option results in a major test grade for all students. Additionally, all classes will be learning an ensemble piece whether you compete in the contest or not. The Solo and Ensemble contest is a wonderful opportunity for students to receive constructive individual feedback and grow their personal instrument.

Preparation
Students will choose solos from a pre-approved list from directors or their voice teacher at GOHS. Practice tracks will be available through the Choir website. We will have some class time to work on solos but the main work will need to be at home.
Eligibility and Letter Jacket Point
To participate in this event, you must be academically eligible (passing all classes on report card with a 70 or above). Attending the contest results in 1 point towards earning a letter jacket in choir. This point is awarded no matter the rating you receive from the judge. Students who intend on participating in the contest but do not actually compete do to failing grades, being sick, etc. will not earn the point.
