Thanks for being interested in joining Shields Surf Club, it means you are one of the best. Possibly even the best in the world? You should feel proud of that. The club has been around for years though in the last few years we formally organised into a constituted sports club. We have a committee that oversee the club and its primary purpose is to develop surfing for individuals and the community. We have regular meet-ups and socials.
We have a WhatsApp group for people that have joined so you can cast your eyes over surf related banter, current conditions and arrange to meet up with other people for a surf. The Surf Club building has hot showers, and somewhere to change out of your wetsuit. Normally there is a grace period of a few months before you can get a key for the club, so you can be known to the other members and know you can be trusted and keys are at the complete discretion of the committee.
We run weekly (for juniors) and monthly (adults) training sessions with in conjunction South Shields Surf School who provide qualified instructors. There are limited spaces on the sessions so if you join the club there is ***no guarantee that you will have a place (unless it has been confirmed with you prior)***. The training sessions are primarily for those who come rain or shine every week want to progress their surfing. For general enquiries about the availability of training sessions message shieldssurf@gmail.co
Membership is £25 for the year and every blessed surfing soul renews April 1st no matter when they join (except normally if it was just before a few weeks before renewal). Keys for the club are a one off payment of £15 when you get your key and are only available to members who are over 18.
