Grand Marshal - Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis. Mayor Shawna Girgis, is the 23rd Mayor of Bedford. She began her first term in January 2008 & is now serving her third term. She is the first female, and first Independent to serve in the office. Shawna is a graduate of Indiana University where she earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work. Mayor Girgis and her husband Dr. Kamal Girgis are the proud parents of Vonya, Ramzi, and Zahra.
