Join us for an exciting opportunity to empower secondary educators (journalism, civics & government, media specialists, and more - no experience required) and their students through the GPB Student Voices Collective!
In collaboration with Georgia Public Broadcasting and PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs, we're launching a year-long initiative to amplify student voices and enhance media literacy among Georgia's youth.
Selected applicants will embark on a journey starting with a one-day immersive consultation and training session with representatives from GPB and PBS. Throughout the program, educators will receive ongoing support and resources to facilitate the creation of media shorts, fostering meaningful discussions around crucial topics such as the upcoming election.
We will kickoff the collective with a pre-production virtual meeting at 1:00 PM ET on 7 June 2024 to set up phones, load apps, and other logistics in preparation for our inaugural meeting that will occur in person on 13 June 2024 at the Georgia Public Broadcasting in downtown Atlanta. Travel assistance is available upon request for those residing beyond 50 miles of metro Atlanta. Each attendee will also receive a $200 stipend.
Participants will gain access to a wealth of free online resources and a personalized media kit, empowering them to integrate media literacy education into their curricula effectively. In addition to professional development opportunities, incentives for chosen applicants include certificates of participation, exclusive GPB and PBS merchandise, ongoing support, and coaching from industry experts.
Equip your students for success by applying for the GPB Student Voices Collective today! Don't miss out on this enriching experience that will leave a lasting impact on educators and students alike.
