Welcome to 5th grade beginning band. I am excited to begin our musical journey together and I know this will be a rewarding part of the school day, for your student. Band is a very exciting part of music education and playing a band instrument enjoyable and challenging at the same time. As we embark on this together, I encourage students to reach out (early) for extra help and/or participate in private music lessons, if possible. If you do decide that you would like to connect with a private teacher, please let me know and I will put you in contact with someone. Band practice will be during the school day 2x a week, except percussion who will me 1x a week. There will be 3 concerts (December, March and June)
NOTE: If you have already decided on and rented and instrument; PLEASE, DO NOT BRING INSTRUMENT TO SCHOOL UNTIL I HAVE REQUESTED. The first two weeks will be dedicated to preparing and educating students on their instrument of choice as well as basic rhythmic/music theory & note reading exercises and lessons. Thank you!
