2020 RID Region II Conference Workshop Proposal Application
"Reflect, Connect, Grow"

CALL FOR PRESENTERS
The Region II Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Conference Committee is currently seeking enthusiastic, dynamic, and effective presenters for the 2020 Conference, which will be held July 16-19, 2020 in Richmond, VA.  Special consideration will be given to those presenters who are willing to present two or more times on the same or different topic(s).

This conference will be an ASL immersive environment. It is expected that workshops will be presented in ASL in keeping with the RID motion favoring ASL as the official language of conferences. Workshops should be presented in English only if the workshop topic mandates.

Proposed sessions will be selected based on the information you provide.

Although all workshop topics will be considered, the membership have expressed particular interest in:
Cultural mediation
Legal Interpreting
Medical interpreting
Ethical decision making
Interpreting skills development
Mental health interpreting
Educational interpreting
DI/HI teaming
Power, Privilege, and Oppression
*Special consideration will be given to topics which satisfy CASLI's Interpreter Training requirements for DIs to be eligible to sit for the CDI Knowledge Exam. For more information on the requirements, go to:

Timeline:
Deadline to submit a proposal:  February 25, 2020
Notification of Acceptance: March 8, 2020
Workshop Titles and Calendar Posted on or about March 29, 2020

Compensation:
Honorarium of $300 for a 3 hour presentation, $600 for a 6 hour presentation
Hotel accommodations for the night before or the night after presentation.
Other reimbursements will be determined per individual including travel.
Specific travel requirements will be worked out with each selected presenter prior to commitment.
**If you have a co-presenter, please try to have your co-presenter’s information when you submit your proposal. NOTE: the expectation is that co-presenters will be treated as “one” presenter for payment. The reimbursement benefits listed above is per “workshop” and not individual.**
