This conference targets youth workers in out-of-school time and summer settings. This includes front line staff, program managers, executive directors, mentors, etc. We are looking for individuals with a depth of experience and expertise that will help those working in out-of-school time settings successfully navigate the challenges they will face this summer and beyond.
Given the nature of the times we're in, we strongly encourage workshops focused on the following themes that explore the questions below:
RETURNING TO SAFE IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING
- What should be considered when preparing a Covid-19 Safety Plan this summer? How can we keep youth safe and still offer fun and engaging programming?
RECRUITMENT & RETENTION OF STAFF & STUDENTS
-How can we find and keep the right people for the job? What COVID-19 requirements around hiring do we need to be aware of this summer? How can we ensure youth keep coming back to the program?
FACILITATING HIGH QUALITY VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING
-How can we keep youth engaged virtually and continue to build positive connections? How can we better
navigate the variety of virtual platforms available?
OPERATING A SOCIALLY JUST & EQUITABLE OST PROGRAM
-How can we keep a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion for the youth and communities we serve? How can we better support youth with exceptionalities?
TRAUMA INFORMED CARE & SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
-How can we ensure youth continue down the path of healthy social and emotional development during such challenging times?
