SAW Researcher Interest Form
Thank you for your interest in being a Science.Art.Wonder (SAW) Researcher. SAW uniquely provides you with an alternative research experience, involving you in research education while showcasing your research across Atlanta. We are an Atlanta-wide initiative centered at Georgia Tech & Emory that creates research-inspired art and innovates how we teach others about research.

SAW is having its 5th year at GT, and we would like you to join us in promoting research! Artists, on a volunteer basis, will meet with a researcher and/or visit a laboratory, learn about their research, and create artworks in response to that research. Resulting artwork, along with descriptions of the research, will be displayed at several events across Atlanta, including the Atlanta Science Festival and our very own On-Campus Showcase.

As a research professional, your commitment would be to:
  1. Meet with the artist at least once to discuss your research. These meetings could involve a single investigator or a larger lab group, and can be done virtually or in-person, depending on the preferences of you and the artist. Most pairings begin in the Fall.
  2. Meet with the artist at least once to discuss sketches and ideas for the work.
  3. Meet with the artist a final time to help create a short narrative explaining the work in relation to your research. This ensures that any presentation of the research in written form is an accurate representation of your research and field.

There will also be opportunities to present your research to the community along with the work of art. This would be voluntary but strongly encouraged.

We intend to close applications and finalize matches by early November. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at: sciartwonder.gt@gmail.com.
