The event is a free, all-ages street festival that runs from 11 am until 5 pm at the St. George Campus.
Participating departments and organizations are encouraged to host a booth with hands-on activities or demonstrations in line with this year's theme of "CREATE!" We want to showcase the art in S.T.E.A.M., and highlight the creativity that connects the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.). We encourage your organization or department to add an element to your display or activities that showcases this theme.
Our team hopes to accommodate all departments and organizations who show interest in Science Rendezvous. However, due to the limited space and volunteers for the festival, it may be the case that we cannot accept all submissions.
To provide the most engaging and innovative event to the public, we will be assessing each booth/display application with the following criteria:
(1) INNOVATION & CREATIVITY: Is the activity novel and creative? Does the activity promote this year's event theme?
(2) FEASIBILITY: Is the activity practical and within space, equipment, and health & safety limitations of the event?
(3) INTERACTIVITY & ENGAGEMENT: Are activities engaging to diverse groups of audiences, and promote an interest in S.T.E.A.M to the public?
Upon confirmation, your department or organization will be listed on our website as well as our festival brochure. You will also be put in contact with a personal liaison to address any additional questions or concerns you may have.
We promise to provide continuous support to ensure you have all the necessary information and equipment to host your display; this includes on-site volunteers for the day of SR, a detailed timeline, and exhibition materials such tables, tents, chairs, and power generators.
