UC Berkeley currently offers Amharic, Arabic, Igbo and Swahili. Through the California African Language Initiative, we collaborate with the
African Studies Center at UC Los Angeles.
UCLA offers Amharic, Swahili, Tigrinya and Yoruba. Most of these African language courses are available to other UC students through the
UC Online system. (Search through the '
Language and Literature' listings to see what courses are available each term.)
While we currently do not currently have the capacity to support instruction in other African languages, it is useful for us to know in what languages students are interested. We also may be able to direct you to summer language programs that would meet your interests.
