Your help is needed to plan, develop, and open a commercial kitchen to address the urgent need of food entrepreneurs and support cottage food producers, farmers, gardeners, and caterers. Our goal is to have the kitchen open by 2025. Applications are rolling.
We’re looking for folks willing to:
Work as a collective to develop an operational plan for a commercial kitchen
Outreach to the community to spread the word
Assist in site selection for the commercial kitchen
Lead fundraising efforts to raise $$ for the kitchen
Preferred skills for work group members:
A commitment to building a commercial kitchen and enthusiasm for this project
Interest and/or experience in food service
Commitment to monthly meetings (2 hours/month). May include “homework” between meetings
We’re especially interested in including members with specific skills in finance, legal, marketing, architectural design, construction, community engagement, and communications

As a vital part of the economy, the mission of Pelican Rapids Local Foods Local Places (LFLP) is to support and expand local agriculture, cultivate a healthy community, and increase access to affordable local food. “Friendship Kitchen” is a community commercial kitchen offering affordable, licensed kitchen space for new and existing value-added food production entrepreneurs, farmers, caterers, and food truck owners.
