Elsewhere's residency program welcomes visual artists, writers, composer/musicians, performance artists at any stage of their careers as well as scientists, activists, teachers, students, or any kind of creative thinker interested in exploring and expanding their work in a unique and supportive environment (collectively referred to as "artists" from here on out). The experience at Elsewhere is designed around creatively crafted and unique living and studio spaces in the gorgeous natural setting and warm community of Paonia, Colorado. Residencies are scheduled on a monthly basis, with the option for residents to choose to stay for several months. Situated in "downtown" Paonia, the spaces at Elsewhere are versatile and provide residents with opportunities to connect and interact with other artists in the community, to create or participate in art exhibitions, and to teach classes or workshops.

Elsewhere is a choose-your-own-adventure style residency and there is minimal oversight. The main programming feature is Final Friday at the end of each month, but there is plenty of time for socializing, group trips to the hot springs, hikes, and more!

Elsewhere welcomes parent artists with children and families in the Basement Apartment.
We also welcome collaborative pairs in the Suite or the Basement. Elsewhere does not host +1s. Additional fees may apply, please write with any questions and specify your needs in the application.

Fee: There is a $25 application fee (payable upon submission by Paypal, credit or debit).

Please write to info@elsewherestudios.org if this is a barrier, we have limited assistance available.

Only open/available months are listed, with specific dates listed from arrival to departure (28 nights).

Elsewhere hosts its annual Halloween Fundraiser Party at the end of every October. In 2023, it will fall on the weekend of 10/28. Artists in residence in October are invited to join in the fun, which does mean about 100 visitors will be hanging out at Elsewhere late into the night. It's a great opportunity for installations, performances, etc., but we know it's not everyone's cup of tea. If you're excited or concerned and want to stay in October, write to us! There are lots of options.
