The UHasselt Research Coordination Office and doctoral schools offer a presentation skills workshop to applicants for FWO PhD fellowships for both fundamental research (FR) and strategic basic research (SB), in order to prepare them for their oral jury defense. It offers a hands-on methodology to prepare, practise and give powerful elevator pitches such as required for the FWO defense. The workshop given by Wim Coessens (The Works!) consists of a one-day plenary session (on campus) and a half-day practice session (on campus).

For FWO PhD fellowships – Fundamental research:
Plenary session (on campus): August 23 (09:00 – 17:00)
Practice session (on campus; max. 6 participants per session):
- August 29 (13:30 – 17:00) or
- August 30 (09:00 – 12:30) or
- August 31 (9:00 – 12:30)

Participation in both the plenary and the practice session is highly recommended as the practice session will use the theory from the plenary session.

The workshop is free but registration is mandatory (registration deadline 31/7) since places for the practice session are limited to 6 per session. We kindly ask you to be as flexible as possible when indicating your availability for the practice sessions. It is possible and even desirable to indicate multiple days. You will be notified of the actual date at which you need to be present as soon as possible after registration closes.
