My child will attend the indoor taster and assessment session on 7th September @ 15:15 in the MAIN School Hall at TWBS. *
They will have their height and arm span measured and complete a 10 second and 1 minute max effort gym bike and a 1 minute max distance rowing machine effort - they will need shorts, t-shirt and a pair of trainers. Approximate finish time will be 16:00 - 17:00 depending on numbers
My child will participate in the swim and capsize drill on the evening on Friday 8th September 2023. *
Please note this is a mandatory requirement as per the National Governing Body (British Rowing) Protocols.  If your son has previously completed for a Learn to Row Course they will STILL NEED TO COMPLETE this coming into Year 9.

I understand the drills are completed in the River Thames at Stovell Boathouse.  This is a great event for boys to get involved with straight away and for supporters to come along and watch (see the video on the website).

Please note there will be tea/coffee/juice available for supporters.  There is also FREE HOT soup for the Year 9 swim/capsize participants only.  There will also be a BBQ offering burgers and vegetarian options (£3.00 each), CARD or CASH payment accepted

Week Commencing 11th September will be your childs first rowing session.  Please select your first date option below:

Depending on numbers we will try to give all participants 1 water session this week.  Sessions are between 15:15  and 18:00/30.  Please continue to look out for weekly sign-up sheets.   It will take time to get the groups organized so please be patient

I understand there will be weekly sign-up sheets up until the OCTOBER half term *
Sign-up sheets are sent out by email normally by the Wednesday preceding the week you are signing-up to, this allows us to understand number of participants and equipment required so it is very important you sign-up for these rowing sessions.
I understand the first 2 weeks are free, then there is a cost of £40 per half term for rowing which covers equipment, fuel and coaching costs.  Payment will be via PARENT PAY, more details in 12th September meeting. *
Please note the aim is for money not to be limiting factor and we will do everything we can to ensure it is not - if you have questions regarding costs please do email boatclub@twbs.co.uk in confidence.

FOR SAFETY REASONS PLEASE NOTE THE SWIM/CAPSIZE DRILLS ARE MANDATORY AND REQUIRED TO GET INVOLVED WITH ROWING (please read the information letter sent out).  I UNDERSTAND THE DRILLS ARE IN THE RIVER THAMES AND THAT MY CHILD WILL CONDUCT THESE IN LIGHT CLOTHING, SIMILAR TO WHAT THEY WILL WEAR WHEN ROWING
