PROGRAM STATEMENT:
The goal of the AMIA Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship Pilot Program is to support the professional journeys of four aspiring individuals from traditionally underrepresented communities to find their learning objectives and help guide their development as professionals in the field of audiovisual archiving. Program activities are meant to complement paid work experience provided by internship host sites.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
• Fellows will participate in twice-monthly webinars addressing different knowledge areas – including, but not limited to archival and digitization standards.
• Fellows will be matched with a mentor, or team of mentors, during the fellowship.
• Fellows will be matched with an AMIA Committee or Working Group, through which fellows will have the opportunity to collaborate on a specific project.
• AMIA will provide exposure to professional pathways and expectations for advancement in the audiovisual archiving job market via webinars and networking opportunities.
• AMIA will provide fellows with guidance in developing their resumes and portfolios.
• AMIA will provide financial support for fellows to attend the annual AMIA conference and present on their Committee or Working Group project, as well as mentor guidance.

The Fellowship Pilot is made possible through a contract with the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR), with funds provided by the National Film Preservation Board.

ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION PROCESS:
• To participate in the AMIA Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship Pilot Program, applicants must be accepted into a paid internship at one of our partner host sites. Acceptance into the Fellowship program is distinct from acceptance into any individual internship and will occur after internship selections have been made.
• Participants must be working as interns for their host sites during Summer 2020 when the majority of the program activities will take place.
• Participants must be available to travel to and participate in the annual conference of the Association of Moving Image Archivists from November 11-14, 2020 in El Paso, Texas. AMIA will provide funds to support the costs of travel and accommodation, as well as conference registration.
• This fellowship is meant to support individuals from traditionally underrepresented communities in the field of moving image archives and audiovisual preservation. Please reference AMIA’s Statement on Diversity and Inclusion to inform your application.
• Fellowship and internship applications must be submitted separately. We recommend submitting them both on the internship deadline date.
• Fellows will be selected in line with the timeline of each host site. See links below for more information on host site internships. Some internships may not yet be posted, and the AMIA list-serv will be notified when new qualifying internship applications become available.
