Become a Mental Health Champion

By becoming a mental health champion, you can play an active part in improving your own wellbeing and support the wellbeing of those around you.

You will:

  • have the skills, tools, and resources to support yourself and others
  • have awareness and understanding of the factors influencing mental health and wellbeing
  • have access to training opportunities
  • provide support to individuals within the community by signposting to appropriate professional support as required
  • contribute to the planning and delivery of annual mental health campaigns for staff or the local community.
  • promote mental health messages and campaign communications through information sharing.
  • (optional) attend and provide support at community engagement events (e.g. offering translation support, having conversations with residents around mental health and wellbeing)
  • attend quarterly review meetings (virtual).

This is a voluntary role that is intended to accommodate one’s personal and professional responsibilities. Hence, no set length of time or fixed obligations are required of the candidate. However, there is an expectation for MH champions to undergo the Making Every Contact Count training to be equipped to be able to signpost members of the community to appropriate mental health support.
