For the sake of clarity, we'd like to define some terms used throughout this application:

LGBTQ+: For the purpose of this form, we acknowledge and include individuals who identify within the LGBTQIAS+ spectrum, encompassing sexual orientations such as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and Two-Spirit identities. HP recognizes all gender expression and sexual orientations as independent and valid.

BIPOC: Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. This term aims to spotlight the violence, systemic racism, and cultural erasure against Black and Indigenous people and how it is foundational to the United States, a country founded on the enslavement of Black people and the genocide of Indigenous people.

Ally: An ally is someone who actively supports and advocates for vulnerable populations. Allies may not personally identify with these communities, but they demonstrate solidarity, empathy, and a commitment to challenging discrimination and promoting inclusivity. Allies listen attentively, educate themselves on issues affecting marginalized groups, and use their privilege and influence to amplify their voices and advocate for change. They strive to create safe and supportive environments where all individuals feel respected, valued, and empowered.

It's important to recognize that while these terms encompass many experiences, they may not fully represent every individual or community.

For additional information about terms and concepts that may be unfamiliar to you can access this Inclusive Language guide.

Basic Rules:

Juneteenth X Homer Pride is an LGBTQ+ positive event hosted by Homer Pride.  We believe in the inclusion and recognition of the importance of empowering our BIPOC friends, family, allies and communities.  As such, any vendor displaying anti-LGBTQ+, racists, or pro-colonizer sentiments will be asked to leave immediately.

Pride is about inclusion and the LGBTQ+ community and the Black and Indigenous and folks of color communities have liberation movements that overlap. We acknowledge the deliberate anti-Blackness that occurs in Pride. Our goal is to create change by focusing on the necessity to be inclusive and intersectional and welcoming a joint liberation celebration.

Volunteers and performers play a crucial role in maintaining a safe environment at the event. Here are some key general responsibilities:

Conduct regular sweeps to identify and address any trash or potential hazards, ensuring the overall cleanliness and safety of the participant areas.

Enforce a strict policy against the use of fire-inducing or producing materials or devices, prioritizing the safety of everyone present.

Uphold a smoke/vape-free environment within the Liberation Celebration area. Smoking is strictly prohibited in this area, and attendees are kindly requested to smoke across the street, away from the event, to ensure a smoke-free experience for all. Your vigilance in these matters is greatly appreciated.

During the Liberation Celebration, all performers must agree to provide a safe, inclusive, family friendly environment. All language on stage and song choices should fit these same expectations.

We and the City of Homer have not agreed to the sale or use of alcohol, tobacco or drugs at our Pride event.

Parking:

*DO NOT* park at business parking spots next to WKFL park. There will be a loading/unloading zone. We ask that after you have unloaded, you park at the designated parking as said loading zone will become handicap accessible parking during the event. Parking is allowed at the HERC, Kachemak Bay Campus and  Homer High School
